At the Helm

Welcome to the Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club.  Situated in the Municipal Marina in Atlantic Highlands, NJ, the Yacht Club and mooring field are tucked in at the south end of Sandy Hook Bay, within easy sailing distance of New York Harbor and quick access to the Atlantic Ocean.

Our clubhouse is located above the Shore Casino.  Sitting at our bar, one often is in awe of the spectacular views of the New York skyline.  By day all lower Manhattan is visible with the Freedom Tower taking center stage.  To the west is Staten Island and to the east is Coney Island and the Long Island shore.  At night, the lights of the Verrazano Bridge are like a string of pearls spanning the entrance to New York Harbor.

The Municipal Harbor provides fuel, ice, showers, and pump-out. Along with a 50-ton travel-lift for emergency haul-out.  All within easy walking distance to the Borough of Atlantic Highlands.  The Borough itself has restaurants, theaters, a laundry, and super market, as well as a variety of interesting small shops and businesses.  All these amenities make the Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club a ‘must stop’ for visitors from around the world.

Our Yacht Club offers transient moorings for visiting sailboats. Reservations can be made on but are also available on a first come first served basis by contacting our launch operators on VHF channel 09 or by phone at 732-291-3232.  Transient slips for power boats are available by contacting the Municipal Harbor at 732-291-1670 or hailing them on VHF Channel 09.

Come and join us.  Our club is open all year around and our hours are posted on our web site,  Members of other Yacht Clubs are always welcome to join us for food, drink, and to swap great sea stories.

Jack Glass

  Vice Commodore

I have been a member of the Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club for over 25 years.  Having grown up in this Bayshore area, the Atlantic Highlands Harbor has always been a special place for me.  I walked the piers with my grandfather, who was a ferry boat captain.  And I watched my son grow to appreciate the challenges and rewards of sailing on family cruises and Wednesday night racing.  My wife, Jane, and I consider our weekends on our mooring in the harbor a mini vacation.  When we return from a cruise, we always remark that Atlantic Highlands is the perfect destination.

I enjoyed my time last year as Rear Commodore and look forward to the shore-side activities as Vice Commodore this year.  Along with the Board and the other officers, we are dedicated to restoring a vibrant Galley operation this year and hope that our members and visitors will be duly impressed.

I’m impressed with our energetic core of new members and together with our Entertainment Committee, we will have many enjoyable events this year.  I also look forward to working with our returning and new Board members.   We have a good group dedicated to, as the Commodore says, make the Club shine.

2019 will be a good year for the Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club.

On the Water

I was honored to be installed as Rear Commodore of the Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club, and look forward to working with all of the excellent committee chairpersons and members that have made, and continue to make our club successful.
The Change of Watch ceremony was well run, and well attended; a testament to membership commitment and interest in the club.
Additionally, it was good to see members of the Atlantic Highlands Town Council in attendance.  The Club and the Town, are inextricably linked and mutual cooperation is imperative to our growth.

Christopher Stone, Rear Commodore
