About this event
What began as a single act of defiance in 1978 has since become a yearly tradition amongst Mariners throughout the country. The act of burning your socks and freeing your feet has come to symbolize the change of seasons and welcome in the upcoming boating season. A season where most of the Jersey Shore locals shed their chrysalis of socks and winter footwear and transition to boat shoes, flip-flops and bare feet.
