Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club
Veterans Sailing Program
We with the Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club Veterans Sailing Program recognize that the unique demands of service to our country can make it tough to rejoin civilian life. The AHYC Veterans Sailing Program, modeled on a successful program (Veterans on Deck) developed in Charleston, South Carolina, offers military personnel the chance to focus on social stress and avoidance while creating coping skills to work through these challenges.
We are not medical experts in any way, shape or form; we are sailors who want to share our love of the sea and the bonds of sailing with others. Being outdoors, among peers, and engaging in the process of making the boat move are where the benefits are found.
If you would like to join us on one of our sails, all you have to do is show up! Bring some water, wear sunglasses and close-toed, soft soled shoes, and sun screen; we will be ready to welcome you aboard!
We sail Thursday evenings from 6 PM until approximately 8 PM, weather permitting, beginning with the first Thursday in June. We meet at Pier 4 in the Atlantic Highlands Municipal Harbor (in front of the Shore Casino building) 30 minutes before sailing time.
