Fun Facts:
The core SoC Ms. Race crew has been sailing together since 2017.
We’ve placed in the top 3 non-Spinnaker division the last four years and won the Ms. Race two times in 2022 and 2023.
We came in second in 2024, 6 seconds behind the winning boat, Eduam.
We’re looking for another win this year!
From a Two River times Interview June 2024
How long have you been sailing?
I’ve been sailing since I was 5 years old.
Why?
My dad built an 11 foot Evanston Robin sailboat in our basement and then took the family sailing on it. When my husband and I graduated from college and moved to New Jersey, we took the sailboat to our apartment on the waterfront in Highlands, put it on the beach, and started sailing on Sandy Hook Bay.
What's the best thing about the Ms Race?
The Ms. Race allows women to sail and compete with other women, fostering camaraderie and support.
Is there any difference between the upcoming race and your first one?
When I learned about the Ms. Race, I reached out to women I knew from the Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club to participate. It was my first time racing, and I was fortunate to find a group of women who have become good friends over the years. Now, as a much more
experienced racer, my crew of great women sailors and I have won the last two traditional Ms. Races.
Are you in the same boat?
This will be the 8th year that I have captained our Tartan 37’ sailboat, Saint of Circumstance. Previous to that, I sailed and raced on My Time as crew and ultimately became the driver at the helm of the sailboat.
What are you in this year?
My team and I are racing in the traditional non-spinnaker race again this year.
How much time do you spend on your boat?
Once we get our boat in the water after ski season, I’m on our sailboat at least 4 days every week. I also race on my friend’s
boat on Wednesday nights.
Anything else you want to add?
I've been co-chair of the Ms. Race since 2010. My good friend Aleen Colitz, the captain of My Time, asked for my support to take the Ms. Race to the next level for 180 Turning Lives Around. Last year, we achieved a significant milestone by raising over $250,000 for 180 Turning Lives Around throughout the history of the Ms. Race.
